Most of want to discover new writers.  Thanks to book store employees and friends, we find some.  But we don’t have time time to “try out” each writer by reading a novel from each of them.  Besides, it could get to be expensive!!

Here’s a great idea for you!  Nodin Press of Minneapolis will publish an anthology of new crime writers for 2014.  The launch is September 11, 2014. The book is called Festival of Crime.

Eighteen local new crime writers each offer a short story.  Each one centers on the theme of festivals, fairs, and celebration in Minnesota.  You’ll find humorous stories, dark murderous events, dead bodies, investigators, and details of crimes that will entertain you.  New plots and new characters for your enjoyment.

In one book, you’ll have the opportunity to read all these short stories.  Many of the writers have also published full length novels.  If you liked a short story you could follow-up with that author’s other books.  Maybe you’ll find nineteen new writers that would keep you in reading material for months.

I was flattered to be included in the anthology.  My story is called, Corn on the Cob.  Small town sheriff, Todd Simmons, worries about getting re-elected.  He vows to clean up the crime in the southern Minnesota county.  But he has a problem.  The most notorious offenders are smart enough to avoid getting caught with a “smoking gun” in their hands.  Todd comes up with a plan that depend on the upcoming county fair.

Will the plan work?  Will Sheriff Simmons successfully rid the county of the worst criminals?  There’s a surprise ending that you’ll like.
